Dermatitis
Dermatitis is a general term for a group of skin conditions that cause inflammation and irritation. It can make your skin red, itchy, and sometimes even blistered.
Types of Dermatitis
There are many different types of dermatitis, common examples:
Atopic dermatitis (eczema): This is a common type of eczema that often starts in childhood and can be itchy and persistent.
Contact dermatitis: This occurs when your skin comes into contact with an allergen (allergic contact dermatitis) or an irritant (irritant contact dermatitis).
Seborrheic dermatitis: This affects oily areas of the body, such as the scalp, face, and chest. It causes scaly, red patches.
Discoid eczema: This causes round or oval patches of eczema on the skin.
Hand eczema: This is common in people who frequently wash their hands or come into contact with irritants.
